Free DNS Management for every domain name

For every domain name you register with us, you get free access to manage the DNS records for the domain name.

If you login to your account, you would see another column apart from the usual domain manager which usually takes you to the DNS Management as a service.

Now, it’s free! So, you can get Google Services or Hosting services from as many providers as possible. Remember, don’t mix Hosting Services with mail services because you cannot install a secondary hosting service on the root of a domain name you wish to you use for email.

RULE: If your primary host offers you email, you can use it but if you have secondary hosting, i.e. sub domains, API services etc., you cannot setup email on your DNS for those services because emails must be rooted to the domain name for the service.

For instance, yourname.com – hosting + email@yourname.com; service.yourname.com – hosting + email@service.yourname.com. Do not try service.yourname.com – hosting + email@yourname.com. This will damage your email setup for the primary.

Have fun adding services to your domain name.

Changes to the Basic Web/Email Hosting Plan

We’ve taken a look at our offer for the Basic Web/Email hosting plan and made some adjustments this morning.

Storage Space and Bandwidth

On this plan, we have been offering 100MB storage space but realized that we need to span performance on our shared hosting accounts. With the new 500MB space allocated to both new and existing customers, you can run more applications and develop at least 5 scalable ones for your business or personal use. The Bandwidth change from 1000MB to 5000MB also gives more room for data transfer for each application.

More Email Accounts

From the usual 20 email accounts since 2006, we have made it 50 email accounts for this plan. So, if you were looking forward to having more emails, you can start adding now.

DSN, Registry and Directory Management

On the other hand, but without being pessimistic, we have decided to remove these features for this plan. We’re not trying to turn down your functionality but we feel that since this plan was created for web based applications, enterprise applications should use minimal resources. Access to our server registry is not necessary as you won’t need to add software or add-in to our system. DSN should be done with the control panel and Directory management should be manually handled to avoid a misbalance on the use of server memory and processing time.

Take advantage of this increase if you’re on this plan.

FREE 5GB website for every 1GB subscription (Easter Bonus from the Web Presence Team)

Bosa Technologies has declared the Grand Easter Offer.

For every 1GB website hosting subscription, a 5GB reseller account is created FREE for 1 year.

Looking at our pricing terms, an Advanced Web Hosting plan would cost NGN10,000 and NGN7,500 for setup while our Basic Reseller plan would cost NGN25,000 and NGN5,000 for setup.

If we were to make estimates of the boundaries this offer breaks then we can say that:

  • Ordinarily, you need to pay NGN17,500 for hosting 1GB space and NGN30,000 for hosting an extra 5GB. This totals to NGN47,500 (actual cost).
  • If you were to place the orders one at a time (per domain), you would have to pay NGN17,500 x 6. This totals to NGN105,000 (actual cost).

Now, let’s look at how much you save from both possibilities above.

  • From getting a 1GB account and 5GB reseller you save NGN30,000.
  • From getting 6 accounts (1GB), you save NGN87,500.

Great Savings this Easter when you subscribe for a 1GB website.

Go to http://members.bosatechnologies.com and choose ‘New Website Request’ from the ‘Web/Email Hosting’ menu.

In the new email compose window, add to the subject, “(1-4-5GB)”

Regards.

Usefulness of .tel domain name in the market

I read an article written about the .tel domain and it sprung up something wonderful to my mind that what if the .tel domain was a universal contact point for a person. For instance, if you have “Stephen.tel” then:

  1. If you ask for his number, he could say, check “Stephen.tel”. You may need to add “Stephen.tel” to your phone book application and synchronize numbers from his server using your PDA.
  2. If you ask for his email, maybe you can provide “Stephen.tel” in your email client and have a lookup for his emails.
  3. If you ask for his address, you may just provide “Stephen.tel” to Google Maps and have Google screen his .tel domain for addresses.
  4. If you ask for anything at all, one way or the other, the market has to appreciate the usefulness of the .tel domain name.

How about a simple complementary card with just a Name and a .tel domain name with it. That explains everything and saves printing cost and even cost of programme publicity too.

Updating the .tel domain name is easy. Just like adding contacts to your phone book, editing and deleting them; so is adding content to a .tel domain name.

Try out the .tel domain name today but let’s hope the industry comes up with innovations for the .tel domain name.

Think about this a little!
